Review on Cuisinart DBM 8 Supreme Grind Automatic by Alex Foley

Revainrating 1 out of 5

I really regret not having kept the box to return this beast.

I wanted to love this coffee grinder. I've been using it for three weeks but I'm finally giving up. I liked that it had a bean tank, but that turned out to be the only plus. My problems were: - Noise. It's hard to describe how loud the sound is. The only thing I can compare it to is when I go to the workshop and my husband is sawing wood on a saw and I can't even call him; I just have to wait until he's done. That's the volume, and it has some of the high-quality sound of a saw, it's the LAST thing you want to hear in the morning before you drink your coffee. - Time. It takes a long time to grind grains. Maybe it's just a burr grinder for you, but coupled with an unacceptably loud noise, the wait is awfully long. Somehow this grinder creates a lot of static. I have no idea why, but it means the grounds aren't flowing cleanly into your brew pot. They flutter, fan out, stick to the outside of the grinder and the outside of the pot. And they get stuck INSIDE the grinder, so you have to get inside with the brush end of your bean spatula and try to loosen anything that's stuck to the wall. - shredding. I have everything set to espresso size and I still see large chunks of beans. Maybe the fine grind is just my personal preference, but I don't see how large chunks of unground beans can make a cup of coffee for everyone.
