I bought these long johns just before my trip to the mountains. But when I received them, it was really obvious that they had been worn before (the screen-printed label had faded, the elastic was beginning to fray a little, and they smelled like Tide. We were just in time, so we rescued them (and washed them before use) but that was really weird. The quality and fit are great and my son loves them but it's really weird that we use them.
