Review on Avalanche Silverado Non Heated Folding Outside by Drew Beckett

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good replacement for 2002 Silverado

I installed this on my 2002 Chevy Silverado after my original mirror broke at the pivot axis. The new mirror came with spare nuts but I preferred to use the original 3 nuts (10mm) to mount it. It's a simple setup and I'd say anyone can do it. If you are not familiar with the process, you can find videos online to see what is going on. Here's a simple takeaway: Lower the window so you can reach the mirror while you work on the inside of the door. Use a pry bar or a flat head screwdriver to remove the triangular cover on the inside of the mirror from the inside. lift and work down, then lift to pry the bottom tab out from behind the door panel. Disconnect the electrical plug and make sure it does not fall into the door. Fall in the door by reaching through the open window to support the mirror so it doesn't fall and scratch the paint. There should be a plastic ring with hooks to attach the mirror to the door frame. They can be removed from the hole manually or with any available tool. You should be able to remove the mirror with your supporting hand. Pass the wires through the center hole so they don't get caught and you drop the mirror. You can understand that the installation is usually done in reverse order. 06/20/2021 Had to order another side mirror after this new one was destroyed in a crash while parking a truck on the street. Luckily it only hit the mirror and didn't cause any visible damage to the bodywork. Probably would not have hit if the mirror had been folded.
