I got this to replace an old 7 stage cartridge for my under counter filter. While it takes a miracle to make my municipal tap water taste good, this filter does an excellent job of making it drinkable and refreshing. I still have some rusty galvanized pipes in my house that give my water an odd smell and taste. . This filter effectively removes that. In my city, too, the water smells like a swimming pool. Now that smell is 100% gone. It is very durable and has a good weight. The Micron filter on the outside gives a high-quality impression. The charcoal block is a very simple but effective filtration method that doesn't remove everything but does a good job of improving municipal manure water overall. I would recommend if you are on a budget and need to upgrade your Brita filters or replace an old activated carbon filter. I have a feeling that multi-stage filters work better and remove more metals and chemicals, but they cost four times more than carbon filters and don't last long. I am very comfortable using this filter as a safety measure for better water quality.
