Review on Breville BWM520XL No-Mess Waffle Maker: Sleek Stainless Steel Design & Easy Cleaning by Antonio Scisson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent waffle maker

This is a very good waffle maker but only for short term use (have used it 4 times so maybe 20 full size waffles) Makes waffles with a nice even crust - crispy on the outside (depending on setting) and soft inside. The moat is a useful feature; However, you should still make an effort to minimize the overflow. After using it, it is easy to rate. If it overflows heavily into the ditch, there's no mess, but you'll find the top browns more. Waffles separate easily - the surface is in close contact, so don't expect to just rip them off, they will most likely tear. Just pry it up carefully with a suitable tool and you won't have any problems. The initial odor from the nonstick surface seems to be less than others I've tried, although it's still present. I found I used the maximum browning setting, but I also use a gluten-free mix. I'm not sure if a girlfriend is important; maybe I prefer crispier waffles. Breville is like a Ferrari among kitchen appliances; They are stylish and work well. The style is slightly different. It looks a bit unbalanced at first due to the large moat, but it's such a nice feature and after a while the look starts to draw attention. Stainless steel is significantly heavier than other grades. The handle is solid, the sides are plastic, but the part you touch is stainless steel. It feels heavy, which is good. There is a cut-out on the bottom to shorten the cable or store the cable when not in use. It's strange to see such a kitchen appliance with a ground plug (3 wires) - maybe this is a European requirement? The plug also looks very different as it is shaped for a safer removal. It's a bit pricey but I think you're paying for the quality. It has gone up in price since I bought it. At $149, that's $20 more than I paid for.
