I bought this sieve to sift bran from freshly ground flour but it doesn't seem like the right tool for the job. There are two separate parts that screw onto the sieve itself: a bowl for sifting flour, and a fine sieve that needs to be shaken to sift the flour through the fine sieve. The actual screen is no finer than any crank screen. A separate fine sieve is good, but there's no point wrapping it on a sieve where the flour is sifted straight onto a fine sieve and you have to shake it vigorously to finally separate the bran from the flour. A fine sieve should be screwed onto the cup where the flour can be sifted and then a fine sieve should be screwed onto the cup at which time you should shake it to make the final separation. It's easier to hold the cup upside down and shake like any shaker than trying to hold on to the strainer while maneuvering around the handle, making the whole operation quite awkward and clumsy. For the same money or less I could get a couple of screens to do the job I'm about to do. I just thought this product would be less messy. It turns out to be very dirty!
