This chisel does its job well and will retain its point even after hours of use. The guard protects the XL's hand fairly well from grazing blows. Durability: The tip is very hard to the touch and will be quite damaged by concrete before you have to grind a new tip. I had very little wear compared to my air chisels. Summary This tool gives me air chisel like performance when used with short, controlled strokes of a 4 pound sled. I feel safe with guards and low velocity (high inertia) shots. I recommend it in situations where an air chisel or demo hammer isn't practical, or for smaller jobs where installation isn't worth it. I think this is a great investment in your toolbox and will prove itself more often than you might think. I recommend it.
