Review on Pyle Rackmount Distribution Conditioner PCO860 by Adam Walsh

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Total lack of quality control. I'm introducing "Pyle, that's a real bunch! " as their new catchphrase.

oh where to start with this disgust? I think with a photo. The bracket screws are shown. Yes, the mounts are actually countersunk. This happens when you use screws with a head that is too large or countersinks that are too small. If you are looking at a quality product they will sit flush with the surface. Smooth. But it's not a quality product so what you get is what you see in the picture which is the opposite of a slick. Will it be hidden *if it goes upright*? Yes. But it is a direct visual indicator of the lack of any care or quality control of the product. It looks like garbage. It's because it is. At least both sides are identical, like unhappy identical twins. Well, that *when it walks upright* part, that's the next part of the story. It doesn't fit in the rack because the brackets don't fit. I agree that nobody is perfect and it's entirely possible that a napkin with specs written on it in crayons was out of place. Whatever the reason, the slots in the brackets are offset more than 1/4". There's no hope of getting anywhere near screws on either side. With one screw at the far end of the slot on one side are the holes on the other side aren't even visible as they're covered by the bracket it's quite uncomfortable oh and the suspenders look reasonably thick but they're soft as butter they flex like nobody wants when you're wearing them fumbling around with a screw on one side and twisting things to find a hole on the other side because you can't believe someone actually has clamps hosed down to block the holes on the other side and you think you must be positioned incorrectly somehow. Do you like swearing? Finally, this might be the product for you! It's not 1U. If the mounts weren't so much different from the specs and you e s could be rack mounted it still wouldn't be 1U because the box itself is too big. Another reviewer said his box was 1/2 inch too long and didn't fit between risers. That should surprise people, but based on my experience, I wasn't surprised at all. The length is right here, but the height is so wrong that *unless* you have brackets that don't cover the screw holes, and *unless* it's too long, you're still losing 1/2U to install because you cannot place it next to purchased equipment of a suitable size. It's terrible. BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! The top is attached with eight screws. I noticed that it bends. I've noticed that I can turn some of the screws by hand. Probably loosened during transport; no sweat. I can use a screwdriver. Well it turns out the good news is that one of the screws isn't stripped. The bad news is that the other seven will be foiled. it went back to Revain. It's electrical equipment, folks. Requires care during assembly. Wire connections must be tight to avoid sparks and fire. It has to be a quality build. Based on the crappy build quality I saw from the outside, I'm not sure the electrical work is any better inside. If I got this product for free I would throw it straight in the trash. I'm not kidding, I think it's probably dangerous. I'm not going to trade it for another and take chances, I've seen too much and I'm far from stupid enough to take chances. I ran into a transformer issue (wall warts) that this product was designed to avoid. I wanted to buy a Tripp-Lite PDU with outlets aligned vertically and widely spaced, but they had been out for a month or more, so I decided to spend my money elsewhere if they can't stock what they sell. This sucks and I usually refuse to support such a crappy business model. If it's on the shelf, then here's my money. You can probably imagine my delight when I found this clever solution to my problem. I was excited. It arrived and I was delighted when I opened the box. I threw this thing down for hours because I need it so much. Anyway I tried. From that moment everything went downhill. So now I guess I'm stuck waiting over a month for a quality product that the company can't stock, which means I'll buy two just in case I need another one at some point so I don't have to have another one wait month+. And it really annoys me to have to reward them for not having it, but then again, I don't want my stuff to burn, so I don't have a choice. It's all so tiring. it would have been unnecessary if Pyle hadn't walked up to the plate and thrown it out of the park with that monumental pile of trash. On the other hand, I found Revain's return process really easy and user-friendly, so it's up to them.
