I bought the same iron ten years ago (it was a bit different then - they made some improvements). He's been an incredible performer over the years. I'm a professional military, so making the uniform look perfect is part of my job. Ten years later, my son threw the old workaholic off the high shelf it lives on between uses and it fell from a height of 6 feet onto the hard floor. There was a small leak at the bottom of the base that prevented full vapor pressure from building up. I was very happy to know that Rowenta still make this iron and was happy to buy it as a replacement. Yes, he is heavy. It's bulky, yes. It takes time to build up vapor pressure, yes. But it works better and faster than any other iron I've used in my life, including 25 years of ironing military uniforms. Because pressurized steam is generated in the base, you never have to deal with spitting out water. It also holds MUCH more water than a regular iron and produces MUCH more steam. The steam is under enough pressure so you can hang your clothes and steam well when a hot iron might damage them. This updated version includes a lime trap. I'm interested in how well this works. Also, they made the water tank transparent so you know how full it is (that was my only complaint about the old version - it's fixed now). Highly recommended! And if this one falls down, I'll be happy to buy another one just like that.
