ok on first purchase it takes a minute and some effort to activate them just keep pressing with the tip but when it starts to flow its not that hard to press to get more. They write on everything, I've used them on metal, glass, plastic, paper, wood, even rock and shell and they've been flawless. Very easy to apply but make sure the first coat is dry before applying the second although it dries quickly. It washes off skin with soap and water, but not other surfaces unless you scrape it off. They have a thin tip, so filling large shapes and areas takes a while, but it's possible. very enjoyable to sketch and detail as well as to write. I recommend these 100%
