The product worked for my M1 per mbp (2021) chip. You need to connect each side with a USB-C to USB-C and HDMI to HDMI cable. And you need a USB-C to USB-A cable to charge the power supply. If you are using an m1 mbp chip I don't think this will work as the mbp 2020 model does not have an HDMI port. 12" is great for my 14" Mac. The screen is an LCD and you can adjust the display settings using the buttons on the bottom of the monitor. This product should work best in my opinion if the owner wants to share the screen with other people at the table as the monitors are adjustable.
