My 8 month old Silver Lab was a teenager and decided it was a great idea not to listen when he was called. I live in the middle of nowhere on 75 acres with more wildlife than Noah's Ark...which means there's plenty to hunt and putting up a fence is ridiculous. Did I mention that a river runs through me? Oh, I haven't. This dummy is a natural water dog and is perfectly fine with taking a bath whenever he wants to. In any case, this device really exceeded my expectations. I like that I can adjust the strength of the vibration and the impact. I highly recommend all buyers try it out in hand to get a real feel for what you're hitting your dog with before using the vibrating and percussive part. When used correctly - use voice commands first before using sound and if the dog still won't listen use voice commands and then vibrate if he still doesn't respond - this is a game changer. My only wish is that I get it sooner when he was in that horrible stage of teething (read how we teething). No dog, especially a Labrador, wants to be scolded. They want to be good boys and girls and get praise. This should only be used to draw their attention back to your voice commands. I feel like my dog is happier and more responsive since I got this collar. Compared to other units, the price was perfect, especially considering you get two collars. The battery life is excellent. I charge the remote and collar every other day into the night and have yet to manage to burn out a single charge. Even if there is water on your property or you bring your dog with you, it will continue to work while your pet bathes. This is not something (unless you are a breeder or trainer) that you should be aware of or know what to look for. We were lucky and this device was a perfect fit for us and our dog.
