At first I doubted this because I'm used to using Alexa based plug-ins (VeSync etc.) that plug into power outlets. God I was wrong, now I like her more. Once you add "eWeLink" app to your Alexa, this device will be amazing. I connected all the cables in the house in the attic to these modules. You can also share permissions for specific switches if you both use different Amazon accounts and different Alexa. Which helps a lot as I've gotten them to buy most outlets my kids use. :-) At first I was uncomfortable connecting these devices to Wi-Fi because the directions changed for different versions, but now it's quite easy since they made a simple hold variable. Also saved by making this tiny Phillips head screw, WOW, frustration in the attic with only one screwdriver needed! Thanks very much! To improve the equipment! I currently have 6 units in my attic controlling various light switches in my house, both newer and newer, and have just ordered 3 more for other rooms. The best option I would recommend is to change the power status to 'enabled' so that it works with the power button when the wifi is unstable. You always have light through the switch. The second suggestion for the company is to make the shell more durable compared to the current case as it needs to be a bit thicker to make it more durable as it feels cheap. Had to spend a block trying to mount it on the board, the bracket slipped off the motherboard before I could mount it properly and ripped out the "long" program key. It was a hassle, which component do you think would be better protected? No, if the component is surface mount, . If you know solid-state components, I'm usually thinner, snagging on the motherboard doesn't help. By the way, I'm an engineer, so I've worked with a lot of devices, even if they're over your head, just remember I really like this device. It's pretty easy to use and you can even turn it off. Plug in your lamp and it works to turn it on and off, no need to go to the attic for that. The third thing you need to know is that the software needs an update! It's challenging to keep on schedule, but this company updates their software semi-annually and should change with software updates in the future. Fourth, could it be a bug? I turned off all the lights in the house using the voice command "house off" and we had to turn off devices not connected to "house". This might be the biggest mistake, I don't know how it happened but it happened when my daughters went into their bathroom NOT connected to homegroup and their lights were turned off with the manual switch. I went and reconnected them with a verbal command and found they kind of shut down, maybe misunderstood me? with "bathroom" command instead of "shut down house" command? Most likely the reason, but I'll look into it. Also, having the app and being able to turn everything off remotely (outside the home and while driving) via the Revain app or the eWeLink app is a good thing. You just have to work on making the timer function or the exit function more concise and user-friendly than an 80's video game with I hope you guessed functionality.
