We've always used Radio Shack cordless phones. Needless to say they eventually wore out so we had to replace them. No wonder times have changed since they were sold. I've tried several new versions of cordless phones and found that the user interface and features don't quite match Radio Shack phones. I decided to look for refurbished Radio Shack phones and found out on e-bay that UNIDEN appeared to make RS phones. I looked at UNIDEN's online manual to see if it's almost identical to the RS in its specs. We liked the tiny flashing red light on the handsets to indicate new messages, the easy access to voicemail messages with a single button instead of a menu selection, and the banner feature that allowed us to name each handset after its location, such as Kitchen. , bedroom, etc. This is invaluable for using the intercom. Other manufacturers identify phones as #1, #2, etc., which requires us to record where each is located. UNIDEN interacts with our VOIP voicemail service and even indicates when it has a new message with a flashing red light. The sound is excellent, as is the reception throughout the house, which has a basement and two floors. We couldn't be happier.
