Terrible peeling after one wash!

I have been buying Scholl diabetic socks for several years and this is the first time I have encountered this problem. I washed my socks for the first time and even put them in a laundry bag and watched them roll! The socks literally pill and look more worn than the socks I've worn and washed for over a year. So disappointing. I am trying this particular style for the first time but I think I will find another brand as this is totally unacceptable.
