Review on Rugged Handheld GPS 🧭 Navigator - Garmin eTrex 22x by Jason Wesley

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Suitable for hiking, cycling.

I only bought this about a week ago and have just tried out a few short hikes with this eTrex22x. As this is my first GPS it will take me a few days to figure it out. I kept debating between the two GPSs for a month. One is primarily for cycling and the other is an eTrex22x primarily for hiking. Another GPS designed primarily for cycling costs about $100 more and has a larger touchscreen. Like a smart phone. Since I was mainly looking for a GPS for hiking/biking tours, I decided on the eTrex22x. My first impression was the significantly small screen compared to the smartphones we mostly use in our daily life. But I think this design was good for a secure grip in hand without falling off while hiking. And I feel comfortable and secure with the grip. And my favorite part is the 2AA battery, so I don't have to worry about charging like I do with a smartphone. Just change the battery in a minute. And it lasts much longer than a GPS system with an internal battery. And an additional SD card for more storage space. I haven't tried the bike tour yet because I haven't received the bike mount for the eTrex22x yet. Garmin Base Camp for PC also works great.
