I prefer cables without adapters to limit the number of connection points. I bought these adapters (I actually only needed one) to use on my PC at work. I just got a new laptop and the docking station couldn't accommodate the cables that ran through the monitor arms so the easiest thing was to just get an adapter. These are high quality adapters that are well made and fit snugly when plugged in. I didn't notice any noticeable loss in video quality, but then again, I wouldn't expect this from the way I use my computer, which consists mostly of office applications. However, I stream a bit of video and everything seems fine. As a veteran IT pro, I would advise getting new cables and not using adapters if you have the cash and/or image quality is an issue. But if it's for a quick fix like I've used, or picture quality is irrelevant, they work well and are well made for the price - even if you only get an adapter.
