Wow, I hesitated for a while as I already had an AVR 4500h and was using 11.2.

Wow, I had my doubts for a long time because I already had an AVR 4500h and used 11.2 with an external amp. I pulled the trigger after some research as I had unused Atmos speakers. I have to say that this receiver is definitely a major upgrade on all fronts. I mean even if I didn't use the full 13.2 it would make the 11.2 setup clearer and I expected that from an AVR 4500 which I couldn't give. Be patient, download the manual and find out what your AVR can do.

Qualitatively assembled unit. Lots of settings via on-screen menus after connecting the TV. Big learning curve for the average person. There's a setup wizard that does a good job of showing you where to connect everything and guiding you through the process. It sets the speaker levels, etc. This can also be done manually. Keep your fingers crossed!

This is my fourth purchase of a Denon receiver as it was preceded by a broken avr5200. After receiving this 8500 I contacted Denon's repair service provider Panurgy and after discussing the issue I was having (power supply) they asked me to ship it to them.
