Confusing photos in seasonal lighting

I used this LED strip in my Santa Staff DIY project. Not expensive, works well. The only thing I didn't like is that the strip looks solid with silicone protection in the photo, but in reality it's just a rubber cover, and the strip is only on the inside and can be easily removed.
