Hardware or instructions not included. I used 1/2" zinc plated screws (4" long) with a 5/16" pilot hole. These kids are going nowhere. You can drill a hole in your joist and use lag screws instead, but if you have a 4" x 6" bolt means you will need a 7" bolt to have enough room to go through the hanger, beam, washer and lock washer and still have enough room for the nut . The gear for this will cost you about $10 a set. You'll also need a drill bit long enough to go through the joist, and if you get tangled it's a real pain. (I'll stick with the screws) As for the hangers, a screw that runs horizontally gets in the way a bit when I try to tighten the screws/bolts with a socket wrench. I had to resort to a 1/4 turn crescent wrench at a time when I was about to turn it on. 2 out of 6 gave me this problem. As other reviewers have noted, they're very solid, quiet, and rock smoothly. I really feel like they should come up with distance and gear recommendations. ! I'm not a professional swing builder, just a mom who builds lots of things. preferably at your own risk.
