Excellent quality and value.

This is a high quality item. Bought 4 for the swing set I built for my kids. One reviewer mentioned that the socket wrench didn't fit properly when tightening the lag bolts. I took some pictures to better show where the problem is. It just means I had to use a crescent wrench and do a quarter turn to tighten one side. If they made it a little wider, there wouldn't be such a problem. Not a big problem, but be prepared. They are of excellent quality and worth the money. I bought 1/2"x 4" screws…

Completely superfluous for a simple swing

Okay, so those things are definitely heavy. But, God! I still had to do some research. These things are too heavy for a simple kid's swing! These things could hold a whole class full of toddlers. Completely unnecessary for simple swings! Unless you're hanging a school bus full of kids on it, I'd recommend something simpler and a lot cheaper. They also don't come with screws to attach them to a tree like some other basic hook/swing kits. Just an additional purchase that will continue to offset…

EXACTLY what I needed for a quality hammock swing.

I used these to install a 600 pound porch swing. Secures over a double 2x6 (lays flat and securely attaches to the porch supports) over the porch ceiling using 1/2" x 4 1/2" zinc plated bolts with lockwasher, large washer and nut. For reference, before purchasing the gear, take a swing hanger to make sure it fits. Do not use carriage bolts as the flat head is too wide to slide past the nuts at the pivot point. Although you can slide the pan head through the pivot points, carriage bolts…

They go well on a yoga swing

I bought these to hang my yoga hammock/trapeze in my home office. They do an excellent job of that. Some people might prefer a pole to hang their yoga swing from so they can adjust the width, but since I have an A-frame roof with exposed beams, they were less intrusive. I think I hung them too wide for a yoga hammock for my height and I think I'll take a pole and run a chain through to connect the carabiners to the Heavy Duty Swing Hangers. This way I can easily adjust the width of the yoga…

Good: excellent material

Good: excellent material. Probably for life. Hold my 200lb frame for 5 seconds just to be sure. large enough to interfere with installing washers and nuts on the bolts you need to purchase to install them. For future buyers I have 1/2" set screws. I forgot to bring one to the store so had to go back. He hit the nut on the stud with the clamp. Yes I could loosen the set screw and then through Turning the screw to tighten, but that would require removing other hardware. Again, a guide would help.

Pros
  • Parts and accessories

  • Slightly torn

No hardware or installation instructions

Hardware or instructions not included. I used 1/2" zinc plated screws (4" long) with a 5/16" pilot hole. These kids are going nowhere. You can drill a hole in your joist and use lag screws instead, but if you have a 4" x 6" bolt means you will need a 7" bolt to have enough room to go through the hanger, beam, washer and lock washer and still have enough room for the nut . The gear for this will cost you about $10 a set. You'll also need a drill bit long enough to go through the joist, and if…

Select equipment before installation!

Very durable but extremely hard to find piece of equipment for beginners. Place them on a 4 x 6 joist of pressure treated lumber for the swing. I did some research and decided that a lock bolt is the only way out. I wanted something to keep it on the tree no matter what (my dad said a latch bolt could theoretically get lost in the tree). The head of the carriage bolt on these shackles had to be pushed through a small piece of metal and then held there during assembly, but it worked. It is true…
