Finally! I found a shelf that works!

Years ago I had a bike with a front and rear rack and wanted a rack for my current bike, a 29" Mongoose Deception bike I bought at Walmart (don't laugh, it's 10th April). years old and I just had to change tires). However, my bike is not really designed for a trunk. I tried to mount a front rack on it but that didn't work because my bike has mainly disc brakes and not V-brakes. I then bought a rear rack but it wasn't designed for a 29" bike and the rack would be too close to the rear wheel. I then received this shelf. The stand came with all parts, including up-to-date assembly instructions. Hooray! The kit also included tools for installing the trunk, a luggage net and a reflector. It also comes with a bracket to mount the front rack arms if your bike doesn't have mounting holes on the sides. The only issue I was already aware of was that as I said my bike used to have disc brakes so I had to buy a spacer to clear the brakes. I wanted a 1" rack, but the hardware store I went to only had 1/2" racks, so I bought two. I also had a problem with mounting holes. For some reason, the non-rack side mounting hole was able to accommodate the screws that came with the rack, but the rack side hole was a different size (10-24). So I also had to buy some long 10-24 inch (1 and 1/2 inch) screws. I'd rather buy hex bolts but that's all they had. Anyway it works great. I would have liked it if it was a bit higher but other than that all the issues with my bike. The front mounting bracket is secured with only one screw, so problems may arise in the future.
