My Most Beautiful Quilling Book

Quilling, or the art of paper filigree, does not require any special expensive tools. You can even start with narrow strips from a mini paper shredder (author's suggestion), plus glue, scissors, tweezers, straight pins, and something to roll up the strips of paper like a toothpick or awl. Paper Quilling is a good guide to get you started, and it's also the most beautiful quilling book I've ever read. Most of his designs use 1/8" (3mm) strips, but the one I wanted to try right away, Blue Cornflower and Daisy, featured cut out petals with fringes, as well as a center fringe with ยผ". Strip 6 mm wide. The edge tool would be very useful for many projects, described in this book if you don't want to laboriously cut strips by hand. The patterns in this guide range from 60% actual size to full size. (I wish authors would stick to full-width templates, but I guess that's not always possible.) They range from simple to complex, but even complex designs are made up of multiple varieties of paper spools that are repeated many times. Most designs feature flowers and/or butterflies, but there are also a few Christmas designs and a few Easter bunnies. Ready-made pen embroidery is used to decorate photo frames, plaques, boxes, greeting cards and gift bags (bags). Color photographs adorn this 128-page craft book, which includes a gallery of paper quilled art by Claire Sung-ok Choi in its finale. Pages. I especially love their whimsical, colorful butterflies. This author also published Designing Handmade Postcards: Step by Step Methods for Making 60 Beautiful Postcards (2004).
