The random orbital sander works as intended and clearly does its job of removing material from objects. However, without the ability to start with slow or slow sand, I struggled to get the quality results I was hoping for. Starting at full power can (I've found from personal experience) result in you recording more footage than you expect. This isn't as much of a problem when I'm using higher grit paper (lower values), as I usually have a lot of material (paint, rust, etc.) to remove. When going from medium to fine to superfine, the ability to control speed and movement is very helpful. I recommend paying a little more money and getting a variable speed grinder. Your frustration level will decrease and the quality of the finished work will improve.
