Works perfectly; easy installation.

It was really easy to install. The kit comes with 2 Phillips screws and a non-T6 screwdriver to attach the adapter to the Mac mini and to attach the SSD to the adapter, respectively. Installation was really easy and quick. I used a Torx T6 screwdriver to open the Mac mini, peel the tape off the adapter, reattach the adapter, push the adapter connector onto an available SATA port (it's clearly visible after the bottom cover of the Mac mini removed ) and installed the SSD (Crucial P1 500GB). So easy! I booted into macOS High Sierra (doesn't work with Sierra or earlier versions of macOS) and the SSD was immediately recognized and asked to be formatted. When I run a speed test with Blackmagic Disk Speed Testing Software, I get 700MB/s writing and almost 800MB/s reading. I even had to set it up as a Fusion Drive with a factory Mac mini 1TB hard drive! This made my late 2014 Mac mini usable because it was excruciatingly slow.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and bulky
