Works best with internal SSDs

I used this to install a Crucial P2 NVMe SSD in a 2014 Mac Mini. The fit was excellent and the connector matched the motherboard with no play. The glue on the card held it firmly in place. It's good to have a set of screws and a screwdriver with you because if your Mini doesn't have an existing PCIe drive, there will be no screw to attach the drive to the motherboard. Mac OS High Sierra and later will recognize the disk and you can work with it. hard drive with Disk Utility. This adapter is a…

Eliminates the bottleneck of slow internal hard drives

I paired this card with an inexpensive 500GB SSD. Installation was easy (no need to disassemble the Mac Mini - just remove the bottom and the 6 screws holding the metal plate). The NVMe SSD was recognized immediately upon boot (OS X 10.13.6). An SSD makes a big difference in speed. Unlike many other 2014 Mac Mini SSD adapters, this one works with a cheaper standard NVMe SSD rather than Apple's proprietary SSD. A great choice to breathe new life into your 2014 Mac Mini.

Update your Mac Mini in late 2014!

My setup was a bit tricky as I had a 1TB Fusion drive with a failed HDD. I had to buy a tool kit, gut the entire Mac Mini, and remove both drives from the drive bay. In fact, the built-in part of the SSD had to be cut through with a razor blade. The new M.2 holder fits perfectly in the empty drive bay. I added a new 500GB M.2 drive and shut down the machine. From there you can boot into a screen called Internet Recovery, which works independently of any hard drive. Internet Recovery allowed me…

Works like a charm :)

If you have a 2014 Mac Mini this is a must have. Works great. Far better than SATA SSD. A minor technical error (and forgive me, I'm an engineer :)) is that the mounting bracket is a small stick of adhesive foam, not a screw that has a special hole about 1/10 inch away from where it is the screw is located on a Sintech board. So very typical. That's not a flaw, just a picky observation. In any case, the product is really great, does what it should and does it perfectly. Not to mention that if…

Worth it for internal SSDs

I came across this by accident while looking for SSDs for my late 2014 Mac-mini. Like most, I found the computer almost useless with the constant turning of the color wheel. I had a really hard time buying a new Mac mini since it would cost >$1000. I really don't need much of this desktop, so I figured swapping out the 1TB HDD for an SSD might help. The other issue is that I didn't want to replace it with something smaller, so I looked for >= 1TB SSDs. They're not very expensive but still

  • Great for me

  • No instructions

Works perfectly; easy installation.

It was really easy to install. The kit comes with 2 Phillips screws and a non-T6 screwdriver to attach the adapter to the Mac mini and to attach the SSD to the adapter, respectively. Installation was really easy and quick. I used a Torx T6 screwdriver to open the Mac mini, peel the tape off the adapter, reattach the adapter, push the adapter connector onto an available SATA port (it's clearly visible after the bottom cover of the Mac mini removed ) and installed the SSD (Crucial P1 500GB). So…
