Review on SHIMANO Tourney TY500 7 Speed Derailleur by Alex Panda

So. You love a challenge.

Bought a new 34t crawler freehub and quickly found that my current derailleur was not up to the task. I chose this one because of the price and the Shimano brand. If you're a weekend bike mechanic, look elsewhere if you don't like a challenge. Because this switch doesn't come with setup instructions. Therefore, I first shortened the cable sleeve so that it lays directly on the switch. Because I needed more cable slack to get through the shifter cable. But because of the pulley system used, I quickly realized that it had to be an arc or "C" shape for it to work properly. In the first picture if you follow the cable from the end you can see the "C" shape I mentioned. Once I figured that out, everything else was easy, just the setup. But this calculation took half an hour. And like I said, the instructions won't help anywhere. Just a product description. It took a bit of effort to get the chain to skip 34 teeth, but after some trial and error. I was able to get this to work. However, I run my own bike shop. So this isn't my first time installing a new switch. It was my first car of this type. What, as they say. Overall, installation and configuration took a little less than an hour. My advice: make the body in the shape of the letter "C". And pay special attention to the cable route through the rear derailleur. That is hard. I only give 4 stars because of the lack of instructions. I would have done it in 15 minutes if there was an explanation of how the products work. Today I'm going to ride this rig a few miles to see how it holds up. I will let you know if there are any problems.
