Review on High-Quality SE Pro 10x 21mm LED Triplet Loupe - MJ37801L by Carrie Spencer

I was surprised by the quality of the optics, especially considering the very reasonable price. I have been using the B&L 10X Trio for many years. This item is of similar optical quality to B&L and has a wider lens for easier viewing. The LED light is very useful when viewing specimens in the shade, especially in dense forest. However, the illumination is the same from all sides, which makes the picture appear a bit flat. Using a lens with no light in the sunlight gives a better feel for the relief and 3D quality of the sample. Thus, this trio works well in different lighting conditions. ADDED COMMENTS 4/28/2019: I have decided to stop using this lens. First, the batteries are difficult to change, which means playing with the wire, tracing the plastic plate, etc. Too difficult. Second, the LED lighting provides cool illumination from all directions. This gives the image a faded and washed-out look and makes it difficult to get a good feel for the texture of what I'm seeing. Now I prefer to use an inexpensive LED mini flashlight with a triple black and white lens, which is optically better. I just realized I haven't used this triple LED lens in over a year. It's time to throw it away.
