Great inexpensive repair - if you're patient

I dropped my iPad face down onto concrete from chair height. The sound of a screen breaking is a sickening sound. A thousand pieces of broken glass replaced my trusty 4 year old iPad screen. Pooh. Found this at Revain for a reasonable price and thought it might be worth a try. It comes with some basic tools needed and a WiFi/Bluetooth antenna in case you make a mistake disassembling your iPad. Mine arrived well packaged, clean and in perfect condition. There is a protective film on the digitizer screen. Adhesive strips are already attached (not all). I was pleasantly surprised to find clear (albeit fine print) instructions. Since my screen was cracked, the removal process was not easy. With a heat gun and a lot of careful and patient time I was able to remove all the broken glass and glue. I would suggest watching some videos for more instructions on how to disconnect the home button, digitizer and LCD panel cables. But if you take your time, you will succeed. After plugging all the cables back in, I did a "dry-fit" test before removing the adhesive strips. I'm glad I did because the home button didn't work. It turns out I may have mixed up the pins on the home button cable. So I carefully removed the old cable and reused it. I then carefully replaced the plastic bezel and then the screen. The iPad turned on and worked great. I don't see any lines or defects on the screen. I didn't have any problems with the home button either. The inputs seemed insensitive at first, but after a few minutes the touch sensitivity was like new. Luckily, my mistake only cost me about $20 and a few hours. Good luck with your repair.
