It really works on carbon air purifiers

I had some doubts that it would work and at first thought my doubts were confirmed. Until I realized that it takes an hour of direct sunlight to activate it, and after that initial activation, the same process needs to be repeated about every month. After that it really got rid of the damp smell in a few boxes, it also works wonders in shoes. It doesn't work very well in large spaces like a closet, but I'd say it still manages to remove some of the smell.
