Review on πŸ”’ LUPING Aluminum Alloy Hood Latches: 2PCS Compatible with 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK JKU - US Flag Patent Design Hood Catch Kit for Driver & Passenger Side by Timothy Henry

Hood to fender bumper (hood insulators) will not stay in place.

The OEM rubber bumpers that prevent the hood from rubbing against the fender are not included, therefore there will be metal to metal (paint to paint) contact when these fasteners are used with the included components. The first photo shows the included rubber component (left) which may be an attempt to create a rubber isolator to separate the hood from the fender, but it is extremely thin compared to the OEM hood isolator (right) and has no method of attachment to it Lock. If you reuse the rubber bumpers that come with the OEM latches that these aftermarket latches replace, you'll find that the very small T-tab (second and third pics, center of the black brace) isn't high enough to hold the rubber bumper and it will fall off easily. The last photo shows the OEM rubber bumper attached to the tongue, but it cannot be fully installed as the tongue is not high enough for the T-shape to snap into the rubber bumper. Note that the black bracket shown in photos 2 and 4 has a vertical pivot with a chrome hex head screw and T-tab at the top of the bracket. You'll find similar latches that have two vertical components (one to act as an axle and one to support the two mounting plates since it's not a solid piece of metal) with two chrome hex head screws on each side, but they're even worse since they don't have one T-shaped protrusion for the hood bumper. I will continue to look for a bonnet latch that has the build quality of these latches but also has grommets to securely attach rubber bumpers or bonnet insulators.
