Review on πŸ”¨ BOSTITCH BTFP12233 Smart Point Nailer" - "BOSTITCH BTFP12233 Smart-Point Nail Gun by John Roberts

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Reliable performance at a good price.

I bought this as a temporary replacement for a Makita nailer that was four times the price. Makita is older technology and I think I'll keep using it when it comes back from the shop. However, this worked well. It doesn't have a dry fire lock, which annoys me a little, but other than that it's an oil-free construction and with a bit of experience you can safely place the pen exactly where you want it. The depth adjustment mechanism feels a little light (plastic) but in use all the nails will sink/settle flush to the correct depth, eg over time if the gun is properly held while firing. I haven't had any seizures or backfires yet. The narrow tip allows you to place pins even in narrow places in stucco reliefs. The plastic tip reliably prevents damage to the workpiece nose. In terms of performance, there is nothing to complain about. The gun is noticeably lighter than my old Makita. The sound when fired is the same as any other nailer so I don't agree with the other reviewer who thinks the sound was louder. Considering the cheap price of this gun, I think its performance is top notch. I would give it five stars if it had a blank fire lock instead of a silly little window showing the gun blank after you ran out of pins and shot blank holes in the stock.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires outlet
