Helps me in many ways to see what's behind me

I wanted to install a backup camera on my 2011 Ridgeline but didn't want to replace the stereo. I bought this mirror because it has auto dimming and dual video inputs (I wanted a rear and front camera but that's another review). Quick review: The screen is bright and sharp for its size. It automatically adjusts to the ambient light, but you can also adjust it manually. The compass is difficult to calibrate accurately, but it works. The temperature sensor works perfectly. (Both can be turned off.) The mirror is solidly built, looks like an OEM and is working perfectly after 10,000 miles. Here's a more detailed review: Installation: - While your windshield mount might work, I had to replace the Honda windshield mount with the one that came with the mirror. The local auto glass factory did it in less than 10 minutes. The mirror is securely fixed on it without swaying. I added a separate fuse for the extra circuit to power the mirror to protect it. If the camera shorts out, I don't want the rest of the mirror's functions to fail. Installation: The instruction is a little thin, but if you have done other wiring work, you can do it by yourself. Otherwise, find a friend or watch some videos of others who have installed similar things on their particular vehicle. Advantages: - The visibility is the same as in a normal mirror. During the day or night, you cannot see the screen when it is off. Automatic dimming works quickly and well. Love it. Also, the settings are adjustable and you can just turn it off at the mirror. Two inputs means you can install a front camera. The reversing camera turns on automatically. And while you can disable the front camera from the mirror, I installed a separate switch so it doesn't turn on every time I start the truck. Adjustable rails are worth the time to fine tune. I suggest using an empty parking lot with freshly painted lines. Mount the temperature sensor as far forward on your vehicle as possible, preferably low behind the front bumper. The included wiring is quite long. The compass is inside so installation is easy. Calibration is complex (see below). Cons: The backup gridlines are great, but there is an "environment check". Warning suggestion at the top of the screen. It would be nice if it turned off after a few seconds, but it doesn't and therefore blocks your view of objects at the top of the camera's field of view. The only solution is to completely disable the guides with the remote control. Not the best choice. The compass is difficult to calibrate accurately. Sometimes it shows NW or SW when I know I'm going west. To calibrate it I have to go around the circle VERY SLOWLY a few times. Make sure you stay away from high-voltage power lines and buildings. I ended up calibrating and compensating it. Seems to be working fine now. The included remote control is tiny but works. It has buttons that are for other models. Classes are pathetically anemic. But if you're patient and keep your high school geometry in mind, you can tweak the backup recommendations. If you want to take your time, you can set it up like it did at the factory. I love that my old truck has a rear camera for safety as well as a front camera for off-road use. I wholeheartedly recommend it.
