Good Knife, Bad Sheath

For a $20 Chinese boot knife, this is decent with one serious flaw. no gaps on mine, 7Cr17 steel (Chinese fake 440a), full face flat grind, not too thick behind the edge - still could do with a bit thinner IMO, nice shaped handle with no ridiculously large guards to interfere with wearing the boot; Shields, pins and name tag made of nickel silver. The knife came out a bit sharp, but not what I would call razor sharp - it's easy enough to pinch. Although made in China, my knife has no country of origin anywhere - just Schrade, 162OT and Old Timer as the only markings. Considering it's only $20, the knife itself should probably get 4 or 4.5 stars. - Most knives in this price range are not that well designed or made. The sheath is very bad. Poor quality leather, slots for lanyards instead of loops (meaning it wears out over weeks, not years), no leather welts or even Kydex inserts (knife cuts through sheath when sharp - and fits snugly against outer skin when inserted / removing) there is no drainage hole and a loose, rattling blade fit held in place by a single latch on a leather loop that is itself riveted - meaning 2 separate steel rivets rub against the knife's cupronickel shields when the blade is sheathed - individually from each side. The worst part - aside from the poor quality and blunt rivet placement - is that it's not a boot sheath at all. a knife called a charge knife, they give you a sheath meant to be worn on your belt/waist. If you want to use this known genuine charging knife, you first have to buy a decent sheath or knuckle, and one with a much better grip. So we have 4+ Hundred Knives with Sheath 1 star, 3 stars overall.
