The description says it is an auto focus (AF) lens. The packaging and accompanying documentation indicated that it was an autofocus lens. In fact, the lens itself was not an AF lens. I don't know if it was just someone else's mistake (accidentally putting the wrong lens in the box) or what. I was very disappointed. I ended up returning it and buying a Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED IF AF-S DX VR [Vibration Reduction] Zoom Nikkor lens for $65 more and I'm very happy with it. I will say that the quality of the Sigma lens was very acceptable even for a budget lens. It fit well and worked smoothly. The Revain return process was very easy and smooth - I really appreciated that.
