Surprisingly good: SLR lenses

I bought this lens to take macro shots with the lens upside down. I wanted something cheap but well made and happened to find one that was selling like new for less than $70. It wasn't new but in perfect condition. It worked as expected for the reverse photo. However, I was blown away by how well the D7000 performed as a 'normal' lens. My first few shots were very dull and boring. But I'm so used to autofocus that I haven't really tried it. After several attempts I got very pleasing results when using the lens at F2.8 and using the focus ring very carefully. The focus ring is very smooth. It's very easy to focus, but it's also very easy to lose focus. I've found that easing the pressure on the ring when I press the shutter button makes a big difference for me. I am so happy with this little gem. Its performance as a "normal" (not inverted) lens really surprised me. I can't give 5 stars because I find the F1.8 to be very soft on my copy.
