Thick enough to be strong but light enough not to pull on your tendon when it's full and you put it in the fridge! I measured this: the really USEFUL capacity is 88 oz or 11 cups. It is filled with water and leaves a gap of about 2 inches from the top. I bought it for cold water and nothing else. I filter the incoming water with an inexpensive Teledyne filter. I note when I change the filter on the filter box that every two months, but your situation may be different. My first glasses were very tasty with no chemical aftertaste or anything like that. I washed them THOROUGHLY with soap and water and a sponge when you received them. :-)
