128GB Samsung BAR Plus Flash Drive. I tested the USB ports and cables for a new computer using ATTO Disk Benchmark Version 4.00.0f2. with the following settings: Direct I/O - enabled Bypass Write Cache - enabled (to see actual speed) Data Validation - enabled I/O Size - 512B to 64MB File Size - 256MB 50MB/s (with block size over 128 KB) Typical read speed is 280 MB/s to 320 MB/s (with block size over 128 KB) After 80-100 passes, the write speed drops randomly to 8 MB/s to 12 MB/s. Does not depend on the size of the data block - occurs with small, medium and large block sizes. Sometimes for a few test patterns and sometimes for 2-3 full ATTO runs. Read speeds remained stable at 280MB/s - 320MB/s. No data was corrupted or lost - just erratic write speeds. The metal case got warm but never felt hot. the same after about 80-100 runs of the ATTO Disk Benchmark test. I sent both back. I really like all the features of this flash drive. Hopefully Samsung will fix the erratic writing speed in the next version. I will buy again if they do.
