bad geometry for kids bikes and accessories

do not buy this bike. The build quality and construction is decent and it's what you'd expect for the price for a bike that will last your child, at most, a few years before they outgrow it. Everything is good, although, as expected, nothing spectacular. The fundamental problem (and it really is fundamental) is the geometry. The bottom bracket (the center point of the axis on which the pedals and main sprocket rotate) is too high off the ground and therefore too close to the seat. In order for a child just starting to ride a bike to pedal comfortably (without knees are bent too much on the upstroke), the seat is too high off the ground for him to even put it down. Tiptoe on the ground to get the bike moving, which they like to do at this stage. My slightly older daughter's 20" Schwinn (good geometry) has a bottom bracket that is closer to the ground than this 18" bike. So if your child likes to initiate the bike's momentum to get moving while seated, this geometry presents a problem. This also leads to the need for a higher center of gravity for the rider (again, due to the fact that the seat has to be higher must, secondary to bottom bracket height). Not the best for an early driver. There are better ways.
