Review on Black Canon Rebel XS DSLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens (OLD MODEL) by Anand Gedam ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

No complaints, I recommend the product for purchase.

Based on the price category (~ 3000-3500) and the class, this lens is very good, significantly better than any of the versions without a stabilizer. It will not fully reveal the matrix as a good fix, but it will provide quite acceptable sharpness, and the stabilizer will help with landscape (for example) shooting. The second modification of the Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II is no different (minor external differences). If this is your first lens and first camera, or if you need an affordable zoom lens for the first time, this lens is highly recommended.

Pros
  • 1. Affordable price. 2. Convenient focal lengths for standard zoom. 3. A good stabilizer - useful for handheld landscape photography. 4. Quite good sharpness for this class of lenses. 5. Acceptable design for this class of lenses.
Cons
  • 1. Low aperture ratio (compared to aperture equivalents). And for landscapes in general, it would be better to clamp it at a wide angle to f / 5.6 - f / 8.0. 2. Not too fast focus compared to better lenses. 3. Noticeable chromatic aberration at wide angles. are corrected in the converter or in the camera (if it has such a function). 4. Front lens and filter rim rotate when focusing. 5. Low aperture makes it difficult to use bokeh in photography, except for macro scenes.
