Bought this matte and small step iron. I have problems with my arms, shoulders, legs and back so it was difficult to constantly stand and sit with an ironing board and a heavy large iron. This mat was beautifully packaged and worked great on the table next to my sewing machine. The size is big enough for small blocks like my tiny pincushions and I'm pretty sure it's a 12" quilt block. Liked the hard surface. Even thicker than I expected and the silicone mat fits perfectly. Haven't tried Steam yet. Hope everything goes well because it's a great combination!
