I am a teacher. The ability to change color - they change color really decently. However, they change only slightly when they are written with. So my 6 year old son likes to make weird bold strokes on his forehead with this? - and it works. I prefer to use my hands. sharpening quality. These aren't the worst sharpeners out there, but obviously they're no match for the Ticonderogas. They are somewhere in between; They are sharpened with a SHORT point - if you try to sharpen a point for a longer neck it will just break/fall out. My kids (7 and 6 years old) love them. And they write and erase like regular pencils, so yes, they serve their primary purpose. YES, I would buy them again and recommend them.
