Realistic. Very relaxing to watch. I love that it syncs with the actual moon phase (you enter the date when setting it up). You have the option to set any phase of the moon. It also has two different sound effects: a man landing on the moon and the main night sound. The only thing that confuses me is that the sound effects only last a few minutes. The moon shines for a while, maybe half an hour or so, but no sound. The sound effects have two volume levels set on the other side of the moon (not on the remote). The remote control is handy, you can set the moon phase and turn on sound effects. You cannot change the volume with the remote control.
