Review on Homax 41072061001 Ceiling Scraper Popcorn by Brett Cat

Captures more than you think with a slight modification

Bought to recycle nearly 1000 square feet. foot of the ceiling. I was skeptical but decided catching some debris was better than none at all. I was fortunate that my ceilings were not repainted except in one room. I've used this scraper by hand, keeping my head on the ceiling the whole time; no extension. I did this because I didn't want to risk digging into the drywall. There was definitely a lot of stairs up and down, but the result was worth it. Half of the ceiling I made was domed (about 12 feet high). This thing took longer than I expected. I would say he caught 90-95% of the popcorn. For my catch bag I used a plastic bag from the store (nothing special). I never took off my bag. Instead, I threw it in a garbage bag. Yes, there was still a fine white powder on the floor, but that's inevitable unless you use a vacuum somehow. I still used a simple scraper for edges and fasteners. You could definitely tell where I did it as there was more rubbish on the floor. I slightly modified the rod that holds the bag. I bent/curved it a bit so it hangs more in front of the scraper. When I first used it, it seemed like the popcorn was going past the bag. The bar is very stiff, but I only bent it an inch or less in the middle. The popcorn went straight into the bag. I was also careful not to bend it so much that it got narrower than the scraper.

Pros
  • Quickly removes popcorn texture from ceiling - Removes acoustic texture from ceiling popcorn
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
