Review on LG 38WQ88C W Inch Curved UltraWide Monitor: Immersive 3840X1600 Display with On Screen Control and Dynamic Action Sync by Dustin Harter

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good big screen monitor.

Bought used; I've had luck before but this time the first had a 4-5p dead pixel line across the horizontal span and a bad DP cable, the second was missing some accessories like the DP cable completely (there was a rookie error sending the first one back before i got a replacement, not the dp cable would have helped initially) but looks like a good panel so far, except it had linear artefacts at 60hz, when switching to 75hz it went away, it wasn't at first, something i'll move on to needs to investigate, but let's assume for now that this isn't a problem. This is an early review. I'm in the middle of a room renovation but just wanted to make sure I was getting a good panel. Despite the deadline, I was able to do a few tests first and show what I've come to expect from owning a quality IPS in the past. Was able to switch to 10-bit color in NVIDIA. HDR is way better here than the Odyssey G9, a bit faded/dark but decent enough to stay on but still sucks compared to normal desktop mode. However, for content and things like comparing hues, this could potentially be considered a feature and it would take more time to decide what I think of it. For this monitor, the comparison with some high quality VA panels shows the quality of the VA panels. increased to a certain point, I don't see much of a difference. Although I agree that 1600p should be the standard. It's time to. 90 Hz is also intended to replace the 60 Hz standard. The refresh rate is low for this price range. But 75Hz is at least some tweaking compared to 60, and it's probably good for me since I use a lot of monitors on my GPU. I would like more curve. But the point is, it's not all that's curved, it can still be straightened up without looking weird, and that's something I can do a lot. I use Fancy Zone from Microsoft Powertoys (free). 3 windows wide at 150% zoom is decent and converts pages to a compressed format, and 2 windows usually gives the full width of the web page content at 150% zoom. Anything below 125% is probably too small to read comfortably at this resolution. Good big screen monitor. Interestingly, the speakers connected to my computer in the background didn't notice anything until I tried changing the volume on the soundbar and nothing happened and I realized it was coming from the monitor. I didn't connect an audio cable as these speakers have a BT connection. I assumed they use these. For testing, I turned off Bluetooth and continued so the audio is sent over the DP cable, which is pretty cool. The sound isn't bad overall, good quality at low volume so I'll probably use it when I need to avoid being heard by sleeping people in the house. Of course, Winamp's Milkdrop visualization looks amazing with so many pixels to play with. The 16:9 full screen mode, e.g. B. watching standard YouTube content is 29 inches.
