Switched from normal straws a few years ago. I had jaw surgery when I was 19 (I'm 56 now) and the nerves in my lower jaw were severed and never healed. So I don't have sensitivity in my bottom lip and chin so it's not good to drink because of the flip. I shake the liquid off the sides. That's why I always had straws. I started with stainless steel and then worked my way up to last Christmas. I like them better because you can see if there are any leftover particles in the straw. But they are made of glass and they break when they fall on a tile, one is already broken :(
