Let me start by saying I've used MANY different bark collars. more than the three that are in the photos for this review. This is a very good option, especially considering the price, but I encourage you to read my cons to see if it works for your situation. We have two dogs and one of them barks loudly when we walk so this collar will help remind them to relax and not make scenes that frankly scare kids. It's like he's acting crazy. The occasional barking doesn't bother me, but he has fits. This collar worked great. It beeps and vibrates to remind him to stop, and if he doesn't, it gives a mild shock. PROS: - It doesn't work because of other loud noises, which is especially important since I live in a crowded apartment complex in the city. I can't have a collar that goes off at car alarms or screams - the slim design is a big plus. A lot of bark collars look a lot like electronic devices and I feel like I should apologize to strangers for torturing my dog or something - the reaction sequence is great - he squeaks in response to the bark. If the barking continues, it will vibrate. If the barking continues STILL, it will cause shock. The beeper, vibration and shock levels are adjustable from 0 to 7 so you can set it to never shock if your dog is sensitive to it. My dog has thick fur and an even thicker skull (just kidding) so while he doesn't like spark plugs, they don't bother him. Two of my mum's dogs are very frustrated with electric shocks, no matter how mild, so having an adjustable collar is good. Dogs that are sensitive to this don't learn not to bark when hit, they just get emotionally upset so this is something to take seriously - Charges and lasts a while Many collars require special batteries that are quite expensive. Alternatively, I've had rechargeable collars that don't hold a charge during the day. This one holds a charge for over a week. I usually charge it daily but I brought it to my mums and it never had to be charged constantly. - The reaction sequence (beep, vibration, shock) cannot be started immediately after it has already run multiple times. times in a row. That means he won't consistently shock the dog more than a few times. This is important because sometimes a few shocks can cause a dog to panic and then he will start screaming in panic and the collar WILL NOT STOP HITTING him causing EVEN MORE panic. Trust me, it can annoy you that sometimes it waits a while before it can restart, but it's an important mechanism. collars that do not have this. I just can't use them. They don't help train the dog, they just make him think he's been attacked. For example, your dog is probably smart enough to understand "OK, this is punishing me for yelling, I won't do that," but once your dogs panic, that reasoning is thrown overboard and they will interpret the reaction, the collar, as an invisible attack and freak you out even more. This might not be a big deal for most dogs, but mine was like PTSD or something (it was given to me because its previous owners couldn't handle its issues). The collar's normal response is a great reminder not to bark. It might seem strange to be honest, but mostly it calms him down. It's a reminder that he's safe and that if there's a problem, I'll take care of it. He doesn't need to scream. But once he starts having flashbacks or something, now even this dangerous runner has the psychic ability to attack him from a distance and he has to protect me at all costs. Seriously, collars that can be restarted indefinitely are bad. The collar didn't snap because after a few replies it doesn't work. It's programmed to wait a short interval before firing again, which is a good thing. I'm very glad this collar does it. This thing is very easy to use and it's very easy to change the settings. To be honest, other collars might have had some of the same features as this one, but they were so hard to program that I just never learned how to change any of the settings. CONS: This collar activates with a bark sound and goes away when another dog barks right next to your dog. If the dog is within a few meters of it, it will recognize that the sound is from another dog and will not turn off. That's how most collars work, and this one is actually particularly good at distinguishing between barking and other noises, such as barking coming from another dog when they're far enough away. There are collars that respond to the barking AND vibration of your dog's vocal cords, so they will never work unless your dog is wearing them. They are rare and the collar I had was very expensive and the battery replacement for it was outrageously expensive as well. So it's an option, but you'll shell out more money. As far as sound absorbing collars go, this is one of the best I've come across. It worked due to another dog barking, but that's actually a rarity. Basically, they have to be shoulder to shoulder for this to happen. a little longer than I would like. They're not rude, but my dogs are small (less than 20 pounds). There are longer pins that you can replace with original pins. I wish there were alternative bars, shorter than the standard small dog bars BUT these bars are less ridiculous and the device is a lot less bulky than some collars. NOTE: I replaced the strap with a strap from another collar so it has a loop for attaching a leash. The strap hole for threading the loop on the device itself is really, really tight, so I don't recommend changing the strap unless you need it and it's long enough and adjustable that you don't have to. I would just add a hook for the leash. Loops right on the original strap but I had already removed the original strap so I had to recompress the strap even though I did. To do this I put a piece of electrical tape on the end of the strap and then attached it with a loop to connect it to the back of the tape up to the strap. a "tape" that slides easily through the tape hole on the device. I then had to thread the rest of the strap through which was very tedious. Image 1: Collar next to the original belt. Collar. the one I see is on the far left. On the far right is an expensive collar that also picks up the vibrations of the vocal cords. Although smaller, it looks like a bomb tied around my dog's neck. How I tied a bomb around my dog's neck
