This is the second collar I've bought, the first has a manual control. Pros: This device is automatic and reacts immediately when our dog starts to bark. So the feedback is immediate, which is good. I noticed that our dog quickly learned to only bark once or less with the collar on. Even with the most sensitive, we have not had any false positive situations. Didn't work on our determined barking dog. It was difficult to change the settings, the collar was difficult to adjust to fit properly on the dog, and it still fastened with a cheap plastic clasp (the buckle is easier to tighten). But what I didn't know until tonight when my dog started making strange noises was that it was burning her throat and irritating where the piece of metal sits on her neck to stop the barking.
