If you read my recent review of Duke's Easy Pecan and Nut Cracker, you know I've still been on the hunt for the perfect nutcracker. And if you haven't read it, you're missing out. If that doesn't get me a Revain Pulitzer, then this rating will certainly help me. You get less than you pay for, I'm always wary of expensive items. And let's face it, that's a lot of money for a damn nutcracker. But after trying and reading other crackers I settled on this one. The reviews were mostly good and it certainly looked good. I've used it four or five times and this baby is the real deal. Massive, heavy cast zinc parts. Little wears out. There are four parts in total and you can disassemble it without tools. He cracks nuts like a dream. I think the only complaints I read in these reviews were about the crushing of nuts, particularly pecans. This is a powerful cracker. The trick is to split the outer shell slightly. Larger nuts may require a quarter turn and another slight click. Almonds are the hardest part for me. You need to insert them with the edge toward the cracker, so I hold the pointed tip between my thumb and forefinger to push and seat deep enough into the cracker. I just drop every second nut and twist the right amount. I like that there is no adjustment to crack a variety of nuts and sizes. With a little practice you'll be a nutcracker, damn it! Suppose you enjoy the high quality of an instrument long after you forget the price. I would add that you will regret the poor quality of the tool until the moment you throw it in the trash.
