I have a Contax G2 and was looking for a good B&W 400 ASA film. I shot and developed a lot of Tri-X's in the 80's and appreciated the good quality and fine grain. The HP5 seems to replicate that feeling, but with more contrast. It has a wide dynamic range and is therefore forgiving of some tricky lighting situations. This gives a high-contrast look and can compress the background somewhat. I find that I narrow the depth of field to add depth. Some people might not like the graininess of this faster film, but I like it. Took some photos of Paris in winter and some on set in Ireland. I was very happy with the results. Attached photos taken at 400 ASA on a Contax G2 with a 2.8 28mm auto-metering lens.
